The Performance DC is the “top of the range” turntable package offered by Clearaudio.
The Performance DC has been combined with the TT5 parallel tracking tonearm and Concept MC cartridge to form a formidable turntable that works straight out of the box – Perfect for any technophobes, or people who want high quality without all the hassle usually associated with it!
It sports an inert chassis, 40mm thick platter, and ceramic/magnetic main bearing all designed to reduce noise and friction. The DC motor allows vey fine adjustment of all three (33.3,45,78rpm) speeds with cast iron stability.
The built in DC motor has already proved itself in the Clearaudio Innovation and Clearaudio Ovation and is a sleeker design that offers improved smoothness and finer adjustment of speeds. This allows for three speeds, including 78 rpm, in contrast to only two speeds on the Performance SE, with electronic speed change at the touch of a button.
Clearaudio’s patented CMB (ceramic magnetic bearing) is an alternative to the set-up used in most turntables with a metal spindle and ball-bearing. The CMB bearing is aligned with a non-magnetic ceramic spindle and effectively floated on air by a magnetic field, thus reducing friction, wear and noise by avoiding any point of load.
